She was created from death and heartbreak; the coldness of her soul matched the deep-freezing of the ocean.

Chapter 1 – Distant Stranger

Straight as a queen, Emiline, stood at the bow of the ship waving to her people. The king and queen waved back to their sweet girl as the people shouted her name and tossed flowers in celebration of her marriage. Prince Louis of Caron stood beside his new wife as cold as the deep ocean; there was no love between the two.

As the ship began to pull away from the dock at Dunclain, Emiline risked one look back at the love of her life. Breaking her heart yearned to be next to him. She had agreed to marry the Prince to save her people; their tiny seaside kingdom was built from a fairytale and had little defense against those that wanted to take it for themselves. The winds picked up and Emiline’s’ paradise grew smaller until she could no longer see it.
Chapter 2- A Life that’s been lived

Roaring and crashing against the boat the waves threw the crew down to the deck as rain pelted them from above.

Traveling to her new home, Emiline felt as if she were being punished for her decision. She feared for the lives of the crew and watched as one of the youngest boys was lifted off the deck. Rope in hand the boy was flung across the boat not going over by mere inches. Emiline rushed toward the boy picking up her skirt and she began to trip, slipping on the slick floor. Not knowing what was happening Emiline felt as if she took flight; until she hit the cold water.

The slapping force from the water was nothing compared to the cold of the water; Emiline felt as if hundreds of knives were embedding themselves into her skin. The ocean bucked and roared above but as quickly as she had fallen, Emiline felt nothing but her dead broken heart and the slipping of consciousness.

Awaking from her crushing sleep, Emiline, uncurled her tail and watched as octopuses, seals, and schools of fish darted past in their daily flurry.

Chapter 3- As your life passes

Swimming to the surface, Emiline broke through the water meeting the sun as it cast glittering light bouncing from the waves to the rocky shores of Dunclain. Hiding in the rocks Emiline watched as her city came to life before her eyes. The passing of years was obvious from the way the cobblestone streets shined more, the wrinkles that appeared on faces and young children that had once been babies jumped and danced their way to school.

Emiline rarely got to see her parents but when they’d emerge she didn’t see the joyous faces of her father and mother but ones full of depression and loss. Chapter 4 – One Day Back Then

Deep in the ocean Emiline let the sea pull and push her body with the current; as her body rocked her mind drifted to a time long ago.
As if it was yesterday Emiline could see Xavier’s smiling face. His features years younger and freer of life’s challenges.

Young love brought together by the love of the sea and a passion for life. Emiline could feel every touch as if Xavier was reaching out to touch her now. Their connection had been quick starting but long lasting as the two lovebirds grew closer and closer. No one had ever

As the prince entered Emilines mind her memories swam from her consciousness and the air echoed with a distant time now gone.

Chapter 5- Dissolving Warmth

Floating on her back Emiline took in the private beach she had grown up on. Warmth consumed her heart and spread as she felt a strange sensation in her tail. Reaching the beachy sand, Emiline watched as her tail dissolved away and left two legs in its place.

Rising onto unsteady legs, Emiline watched as a dress began to appear from thin air. The strings hummed and the piano played as Emiline entered the ballroom. Her parents sat tall and regal on their thrones, with an empty one beside them. Emiline allowed her legs to carry her into the ballroom; stunned no one seamed to recognize her. That is, until the tall regal man before her turned his head; his profile, that of the only man she had ever loved, Xavier.

Chapter 6- Xavier

He hadn’t changed at all but at the same time the boyish features had grown strong, defined and his clothing formal and expensive.
Xavier’s arm entangled with that of a countess, Emiline felt her eyes well up as the boy she had always loved leaned in close to the woman on his arm. The flash of a woman spinning caught Xavier’s eye; turning to see her fully he saw the flurry of a woman he believed to be dead. Dropping the countess’s arm, Xavier excused himself and weaved through the crowd following the ghost before him.

Her feet carried her to the water’s edge, without wasting any time Emiline stepped into the surf. She could feel the magic dissipate and her tail begin to reform with every step deeper into the water. With waves lapping at her hips, Emiline took one look back at the home she could never have again but what she saw was a wide-eyed Xavier.

Chapter 7- I’m Yours

Xavier stared as the woman before him began to change, emerging from the water fish scales grew up her hips and the gown she wore melted into the water dye staining the surface. Calling her name, Emiline turned, looking into his eyes for the first time since her departure. Tears poured down her face as she turned and dove into the water.

His arms ached and out of breath Xavier paused, calling her name and turning in all directions but all he saw was the ocean and then it all went black. He vaguely felt a familiar arm scoop around his waist and water passing by him so quickly he could have been propelled by a boat. Xavier was surprised when he awoke on the beach and right in front of his face was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Threading his hand through her wet hair, Xavier drew Emlines mouth down to his; kissing her with more passion and need than ever before.

Chapter 8- A Life to Live
Explaining how she survived and regained her legs permanently with a simple kiss was a story she and Xavier kept for themselves, working up a plausible rescue tale to tell the kingdom.

Emiline retook her rightful seat next to her portents and after learning of the death of her former husband; Emiline told Xavier he would be marrying her. Giving her his agreement with a deep kiss, Xavier had the woman he had always wanted back in his life forever.

The kingdom of Durlanhm rejoiced on the day of their marriage, Xavier and Emiline decided to skip the honeymoon and just spend time in their kingdom. The sea would always have a pull on Emiline but the pull of being with Xavier and sharing their lives together was so much greater, that it overwhelmed the other.
